The Pittsburgh Laymen’s Bible Institute (PLBI) & Biblical Counseling Program provides Biblical training for interested persons in the Homewood community and beyond. A goal of the ministry is to make the Bible comprehensible to all persons so they can apply its teachings in their daily lives and experience greater spiritual, physical, emotional and economical health. Trained counselors provide Marriage, Family, Premarital, Financial and Emotional Counseling.
PLBI was the vision of Dr. William R. Glaze, who sought to transform the urban community through Bible-based education.
The education of teachers and counselors began in 1974, using a three-year curriculum studying premarital, marital, family, and emotional needs and the Bible.
Before the Institute was formally founded in 2001, Bethany Church had a significant number of well-educated faculty, certified by the National Association of Biblical Counselors.
The mission of Pittsburgh Laymen’s Bible Institute is to equip believers to rightly divide the Word of God and prepare them for ministry as godly servants in the body of Christ, thereby enabling them to evangelize the lost, minister to the saints, and defend the Christian faith.
